I Am Bad
I Am Bad
Langue : anglais
Texte : Paroles originales

I Am Bad
I Am Bad
Language: English
Text: Original lyrics
I Am Bad turns an insult into a declaration of existence. The word bad, first imposed as a verdict on the body, love, and identity, is repeated until it becomes an act of resistance: the wound becomes a crown, the scar becomes gold, and shame steps out of hiding into the street. Images of the closet, “Sunday eyes,” and the American dream evoke the pressure to remain invisible and respectable. At the song’s center, the simple recognition “You are who you are” offers another possibility: to be seen without judgment and to live openly.

I Am Bad
I am bad, I am bad
But that word don’t choke me anymore
I am bad, I am bad
Tonight I step out, right through the door
Fingers point at me like I’m some kind of freak
Glitter on my face, boots loud in the street
They say, “Where’s the pride in a body like that?”
Too much skin, too much laugh, too much truth in drag
They say, “Why you gotta make it public?”
“Why you gotta dance? Why you gotta love it?”
“Keep it in the closet, keep it nice, keep it clean”
Be a good little ghost in the American dream
But I say, yeah, I’m fragile too
I shake, I break, I bleed like you
What I hide all week under work and shame
I wear tonight like a holy flame
I don’t live for your Sunday eyes
I don’t bow to your polished lies
If being quiet means dying slow
Then I choose the street, and I let it show
I am bad, yeah, I say it first
Take your little curse, turn it into verse
Name locked up in a room called shame
Tonight the speakers scream my name
I am bad, I am bad
But I was never born wrong
I am bad, I am bad
I turn the wound into a crown
I am bad, I am bad
I’m still standing, soft but loud
I am bad, I am bad
I dance, I love, I’m living now
I am bad, I am bad
Take the label, build a throne
I am bad, I am bad
Turn the scar into gold
I am bad, I am bad
I don’t breathe from underground
I am bad, I am bad
Say my name and say it loud
A hidden life is a hallway
Doors locked on both sides
Every mirror turns its back
Every love wears a disguise
They say silence keeps you safe
They say passing keeps you free
But what kind of freedom lives
When I can’t even be me?
“Okay, I hear you”
“You are who you are”
One simple sentence
Can heal an old scar
“Okay, I hear you”
“You are who you are”
That kind of mercy
Can carry someone far
[Verse 2]
Shame said, “Boy, you’re twisted”
Shame said, “Girl, you’re wrong”
Shame said, “Change your body”
Shame said, “Hide your song”
But I rewrite the sentence
I was never a mistake
I am still becoming
I am learning how to stay
There are no bad bodies
Only cruel eyes
There are no wrong lovers
Only well-dressed lies
Pride ain’t a medal
For the flawless and strong
Pride is broken people
Putting themselves back on
Pride ain’t a parade
Of bodies without pain
Pride is walking in the sunlight
After years inside the rain
You ask, “Where is the pride
In all this noise and flame?”
It’s right here in my body
When I refuse your shame
I am bad, yeah, I say it again
But that word is not my prison
You wrote it like a verdict
I wear it like a vision
I am bad, I am bad
But I was never born wrong
I am bad, I am bad
I turn the wound into a crown
I am bad, I am bad
I’m still standing, soft but loud
I am bad, I am bad
I dance, I love, I’m living now
I am bad, I am bad
Take the label, build a throne
I am bad, I am bad
Turn the scar into gold
I am bad, I am bad
I don’t breathe from underground
I am bad, I am bad
Say my name and say it loud
I am bad
Still I exist
I am bad
Still I shine
I am bad
Still I love
Tonight I do not hide
This life is mine
